Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how BirdID ("we", "us", the "App") collects, uses and protects your information. By using the App you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
- Account information. If you create an account, we store your email address and a securely hashed version of your password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address from Google.
- Photos you submit. Photos are sent to our servers only to identify the bird in them. They are processed in memory and are not stored on our servers after the identification is returned. Your identification history is stored only on your device.
- Approximate location (optional). If you use "Detect by GPS", your device's approximate location is used on your device to suggest the right region. We only send the resulting region code to our servers — not your coordinates.
- Device identifier. A device identifier is used to enforce free-usage limits.
- Usage data. For each identification we may log the date, the selected region, and the top predicted species, to operate and improve the service.
- Subscription data. If you purchase a subscription, purchase and entitlement information is processed through Google Play and our subscription provider (RevenueCat).
2. How we use your information
- To provide bird identification and related features.
- To manage your account, authentication and confirmation codes.
- To enforce free-usage limits and manage subscriptions.
- To maintain, secure and improve the service.
3. Third-party services
We rely on the following providers, who process data on our behalf or to provide their service:
- Google Sign-In — authentication (only if you choose it).
- Google Play Billing & RevenueCat — subscription purchases and management.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — hosting, model storage, and transactional email (confirmation and password-reset codes).
- Xeno-canto — bird-song recordings are streamed from xeno-canto.org. No personal data is sent to Xeno-canto.
4. Data retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. Submitted photos are not retained after processing. Usage logs are kept only as long as needed to operate the service. When you delete your account, we delete your account data as described in our Account Deletion page.
5. Your rights
You can access, correct or delete your personal data. You can delete your account and associated data at any time — see how to delete your account. For any privacy request, contact us at feedback@fab-apps.com.
6. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections and hashed passwords. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
7. Children's privacy
BirdID is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
